What will you like to Change?

This might sound crazy but I often feel like I should have some sort of supernatural power to deal with the corrupt police, bad politicians, hooligans, rapists, serial killers just name it. You know, if you can remember that particular thing that made you go over the edge and you wished you could deal with it to your satisfaction but you were helpless to do something (just a case scenerio).

Anytime I witness oppressions, bad treatment of others, I just wonder; why is it that we get to see the power of Cat Woman, Superman, Batman, Harry Potter only in the movie? Can't there be a life experience? Can't I possess such power and use it for the good of the nation? Had I had these powers, all corrupt police officers and army in Nigeria would have being safe! All the bad leaders that have embezzled our money better take cover.

But I don't have such powers but still I have got other powers. Power to cry out whenthere is injustice , power to continually try to change a situation by just doing something no matter how big or small about it, power of positivity- that some day all these little efforts will become so big and it will change history...

My question is is there any burning issue that you want to solve? If you have just one change to make a change, what will it be?

The Amazon Heroine ( Shero)

I made an AdaLovelaceDay pledge a few Months ago to do a post on an Amazon in Technology.
" Ada Lovelace Day is an international day of blogging to draw attention to women excelling in technology. Women's contributions often go unacknowledged, their innovations seldom mentioned, their faces rarely recognised. We want you to tell the world about these unsung heroines. Whatever she does, whether she is a sysadmin or a tech entrepreneur, a programmer or a designer, developing software or hardware, a tech journalist or a tech consultant, we want to celebrate her achievements"

This is not far-fetch for me anymore as it would have being a few years back. I am proud of a woman that is making tremendous impact in equipping women and girls in Information and Communication Technology. I was so happy to leave my name in joining over 1,000 people world over that will be blogging or that are already making a post on their "Technology Sheros or the Technology unsung Sheroes".

If not for her intiative to empower women in ICT, my blog that is making an impact and is about to take me to Chicago for a conference won't have existed. If not for her over 50 empowered women and girls that now know more about what they can use ICTs to achieve won't have got that information as at the time they did.

If not for her a lot of women taking charge of their destiny might not be privy to the information that is changing the wheel of their lives! There is so much that one determined person can do, there is so much one genuine leader can accomplish with a passionate heart.

I am acknowledging the deserving Technology Shero, the Amazon Oreoluwa Somolu for all she has done and much more to come!

HONEST SCRAP MEME

The award above was given to me by my Poeticallytinted. And she considered my blog and its content brilliant hence. This Award will not be complete if I don't do the meme that comes with it, which in my opinion I am doing again. Well, I am sure I can find 10 new things to share about me.

Thanks Poeticallytinted!

MUST DO FOR ACCEPTING THE AWARD:
  1. You must brag about it
  2. You must include the name of the blogger who bestowed the award on you and link back to the blogger
  3. You must choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven friends (lol).
  4. Show the seven random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with Honest Weblog. Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.
  5. List at least ten (10) honest things about yourself. Then pass it on!

Here the torture begins:

  1. I have always wanted to pierce my nose. Got it done in India at last.
  2. I have being trying to grow dreadlocks since 2004 and was always putting it off for one excuse or the other. Now I have started. Poeticallytinted be ready to gimme tips.
  3. I used to think I will make a great politican but now I think the only thing I can do best is ACTIVISM. Gonna stick to that. I don't want politics dragging my name in the mud
  4. I am not an early riser. My body wakes up fully at 7am but I had to be up 5:30am. It's a battle till date.
  5. I am a misfit accountant. I wonder how I was misguided to do the course in the first place. Now I want to go back for law. Wish me luck everyone. Thank you, thank you
  6. I don't believe the crap about people don't change especially when it has to do with belief system and orientation. I am a living proof and change is the only constant thing in life!
  7. I don't wear a wedding ring. Should I?
  8. Mrs. is boring to me. I don't like being addressed as such. Ms. is better and cool
  9. I am a rebel and you don't want to see me angry!
  10. I am a "practice what you preach damsel". I don't encourage people to do X and Y without me doing it myself. If I preach feminism, that's sure my way of life. If I preach equality, that's sure my way of life!

Passing this award on to:
  1. Sokari
  2. Writefreak
  3. Geebee
  4. Adaeze
  5. Tigress
  6. Blazing
  7. Sugabelly
Enjoy!

Cats On Tuesday: My Companions and other Funny Images

........................................................................................................................................................
When I say cats rule don't doubt me. As soon as I get back from Bangalore-India, my cats showed how much they have missed me by the way they occupied my resting bed as soon as I lie down and were there till I woke up. Standtall Husband captured us all (lol)

*********************************************************************************
Now what were they going in circles for? Lol. I am sure they thought I was going to the kitchen so they can follow me for food.

*********************************************************************************
What manner of sleeping posture is this? Well, Smallville seemed to be enjoying his sleep near my bag.

*******************************************************************************
My proud Scofield with all the terrible cuts I met on his face when I got back. They (the other cats) are always giving him marks!

**********************************************************************************
Copy Cat. WHo copied who? Smallville and Daddy Scofield!
